I have been trying to get my policy…
I have been trying to get my policy changed to a different destination since the beginning of January 2022. I have been promised new paperwork will be sent and I have not received anything. I have emailed twice, phoned 3 times and got nowhere. I have no idea about my insurance and we are due to travel on 25th April 2022. Disgusting service.
Update - I eventually got through to someone who then told me my policy was cancelled and they would give me 50% of my money back !!!! I complained obviously and was told to write to the underwriters - they gave me an email address that does not work ! So now I have to try and call them again - horrendous service.
More disappointment
Following my 1* review
Following my 1* review, I was invited to contact the claims company (see below). I did so and have heard nothing back - not even an acknowledgement! It seems they responded so as to be perceived as "responsive and caring" to anyone reading my complaint, but they don't actually do anything.
Anyone reading this please do a quick scan to confirm the following:
5* reviews mainly relate to how good the purchasing experience is (handing over your cash is easy !!)
1* reviews mainly relate to disappointing claims experience

Missed a return flight on a skiing…
Missed a return flight on a skiing holiday due to 0.6m of snow in the resort overnight which blocked the roads plus an avalanche on the road to the airport etc. You might imagine this is exactly what travel insurance is for.
Some of the party had a "free" NatWest account policy which paid out immediately
The Boots policy is underwritten by different companies, which caused us extra effort and buck passing but the eventual reply was that we were covered for a missed departure ONLY on the outbound journey, NOT on the return journey !!!
This was a so called Platinum policy which CLEARLY states in the official "Policy Document" :
"Boots - Let's feel good" (Hahaha)
Missed departure covered to £1500 and missed connection £1000
NO MENTION THIS IS ONLY ON THE OUTBOUND JOURNEY
This was a couple of years ago, and due to the claim being forgotten about and confusion between different insurers I have only just got a final decision not to pay
The alternative flights for 3 ppl cost me £1000 and Boots Insurance have wriggled out of paying whereas the free NatWest account insurance paid up immediately for the other 2 ppl with no hassle
I consider this a breach of trust and would not use Boots insurance again

Would give zero stars if I could ….
Would give zero stars if I could ….. terrible experience from what I thought would have been a reputable high street name when we took out the travel insurance policy but turned out it’s a scam and administered by a broker (TIF group) trading off the name BOOTS …. Took out the policy in good faith before a holiday that finally got cancelled due to covid but we wouldn’t have been able to travel at the time when the holiday was due to take place due to family members needing to self isolate and therefore couldn’t travel. Tried to claim against travel insurance as was getting no where with travel company only to be told by “Boots” that as covid was unknown of before the pandemic it was “not covered” and therefore not included. I asked the TIF agent where it stated that it was not covered or where it stated it was excluded only to be told that they couldn’t put everything on the policy document for conditions that were not included ….. so scam as anything could therefore be claimed as not included if that were the case. They were quick to offer me a refund on the premium, unsurprising as this would then absolve them of any liability, but point blank refused to consider any claim for being unable to travel due to covid related isolation. Poor service and typical insurance red tape used to get out of claims …. Will never use boots again and will spread negative views of this company going forward …… like most insurance they only want customers who pay premiums on policies they never need to claim on …… avoid at all costs

Ignore reviews where people have not needed to claim!!
Any review of an insurance company where the customer has not had to ACTUALLY use them is completely pointless. Yes I'm sure the customer service team (who sold you the product) were VERY friendly. How about the customer service team who are supposed to help you when you have an emergency or need to claim? That's what matters!
We have just finished our trip, and we had an 18 month backpacker policy with Boots Travel Insurance (the TIF Group). They are actually the TIF group, which was awful for us, and almost caused us to unnecessarily leave our trip (we luckily found out later, after forcing them to admit, that we were completely covered and could stay in Canada for the remaining 16 months) but far worse for other customers. Avoid any policies with the TIF Group, including Alpha and many others. They lie constantly to customers on crucial details. If you don't believe me, look up EMPLOYEE reviews on Glassdoor, they actually say that they were told to lie to customers.
Don't just trust the company name on the face of the product. Boots had nothing to do with the insurance itself, it is all the TIF group. And definitely don't travel to America with the TIF group, they actually say on their OWN WEBSITE that they don't fully pay out for medical claims in the US. This can be found on their "Challenging Excessive Medical Bills" page, where they act as if by not paying, that they are actually doing YOU a favour. Yes, I'm sure the customer would greatly appreciate being hounded by debt collectors in Switzerland, thanks so much TIF Group!
Avoid.

Reliable Company Brand
Due to the global pandemic faced by us all, our holiday had to be cancelled last year and Boots made a no quibble refund of our travel insurance. This, coupled with the trusting brand of the company and the good value for money, was the reason for choosing Boots once again for this year's travel insurance.
really good cover
really good cover, easy to buy and a trusted name

Comprehensive application and cover
Very comprehensive application form that covers a lot of areas but is a little confusing at times. Just take it slowly and read all the details

I found the online site easy to use
I found the online site easy to use, but on renewing my policy I did not realise that you had to do medical history as there were not any changes from the previous policy, but a phone call to your helpline staff were most helpful and spent time going through all the questions.

Cover after a Transplant
I was so pleased to find that I could buy travel insurance at a reasonable price after having a transplant 3 years ago. I am looking forward to being able to have a holiday again and am very pleased that Boots recognise that having had an illness does not mean that you continue to be ill, far from it I am fit healthy and well.
Good overall cover
Good overall cover
Good overall cover, especially like the option to abandon travel, gave more than some bigger companies, would definitely use again
Excellent service.
Fast and easy to arrange, good cover at a competitive price.

Covid and holiday cancellation
Difficult one for me with this one as we were going with another company but had to cancel with them due to Covid and holiday cancelled and they could not transfer as year ahead, so money back, they emailed me with a new quote, but it was doubled? Covid or not that was taking the pee, tried to phone them, no answer, left message, no replies... OK, ring you guys and although not cheap, decided to go ahead, as we reset the holiday, end of..... ?
